Conceptis Nurikabe – The object is to create islands

[Game] Conceptis Nurikabe

Conceptis Nurikabe

Nurikabe are addictive island-forming puzzles which were invented in Japan.

Using pure logic and requiring no math to solve, these fascinating puzzles offer endless fun and intellectual entertainment to puzzle fans of all skills and ages.

Each puzzle consists of a grid containing clues in various places. The object is to create islands by partitioning between clues with walls so that the number of squares in each island is equal to the value of the clue, all walls form a continuous path and there are no wall areas of 2×2 or larger. Each island must contain one clue and be isolated from other islands horizontally and vertically.

The game features a highlighting option to help see if a wall segment is about to become isolated, and an island size counter to view how many squares belong to an island.

To help see the puzzle progress, graphic previews in the puzzle list show the progress of all puzzles in a volume as they are being solved. A Gallery view option provides these previews in a larger format.

For more fun, Conceptis Nurikabe includes a Weekly Bonus section providing an extra free puzzle each week.

Nurikabe have also become popular under other names such as Islands in the Stream and Cell Structure. Similar to Sudoku, Kakuro and Hashi, the puzzles are solved using logic alone. All puzzles in this app are produced by Conceptis Ltd. – the leading supplier of logic puzzles to printed and electronic gaming media all over the world. On average, more than 20 million Conceptis puzzles are solved each day in newspapers, magazines, books and online as well as on smartphones and tablets across the world.

Conceptis Nurikabe user reviews :

I really love this puzzle, but I noticed that some of the puzzle packs contain the same puzzles, which is a ripoff.

  • Sorry for this problem. We produce tens of thousands of different puzzles every year for apps, online, newspapers, magazine publishers and more. This is all done manually so human error and duplication may happen from time to time. Please send us an email to support@conceptispuzzles.com so we know which puzzle duplication you found.
Only one wish: when I surround an area with the correct number inside, it would be great if it could automatically fill up the room with dots

  • Thank you for your feedback, and for this great idea! We will bring it up when we have our next app review and hopefully add this feature on the next update.

Nice sleek interface with plenty of levels. I don’t normally do in-app purchases but I’ve bought a few level packs for this game after completing the main levels.

Another great addition to the Conceptis family of apps and one I’d been waiting years for! Would be even better with more free puzzles…

Good Nurikabe implementation, lots of puzzles at a wide range of difficulties. Fair business model.

Excellent game if you like such puzzles as sudoku and slitherlink.

Conceptis makes consistently great puzzle apps, I happily recommend!

On my phone, the game seems to have a bug in which it doesn’t recognize when the puzzle is actually solved. After completing the first puzzle, when nothing happened, I actually clicked [solve] to see if I’d missed something, and I hadn’t. The puzzle cleared out after that. I tried the next puzzle, and the same thing happened. Instructions seem clear enough, so I’m left to conclude that it’s a bug. It doesn’t seem very challenging for me, anyway.

  • Sorry you are experiencing a problem. If possible, please send us a screenshot of a solved puzzle to support[at]conceptispuzzles.com so we can see the solution. It’s possible you accidentally missed one of the rules, which is the reason why the puzzles don’t appear as completed.

My favourite Conceptis puzzle game. All levels are solvable with logic (no guessing). There is a help menu that describes all of the required techniques if you are having trouble identifying them. If you have finished all of the free ones, there are weekly puzzles and purchasable puzzle packs. Top tier puzzle game.
