Grim Tides – Immerse in a rich fantasy world

[Game] Grim Tides – Old School RPG

Grim Tides Grim Tides is a classic turn-based RPG / Dungeon Crawler with clean aesthetics and a retro vibe.

It puts a lot of emphasis on atmosphere and immersion, using carefully picked music, colorful visuals, and lots of written text, which all serve to paint a vivid and unique world of an exotic tropical archipelago. Some roguelike elements are thrown in for good measure. Reminiscent of pen and paper DnD (D&D).

Grim Tides user reviews :

I really enjoyed Grim Quest, so I was thrilled when I saw it now had a prequel. Having a Grim game in full color is an absolute treat, though I agree the pebbled art style takes some getting used to. Like all good sequels, this one keeps everything good about the original, and then adds more of it. Stellar job, especially with the writing. The very readable, engaging story and world building is way better than anyone would expect of a free mobile game.

I love it! It’s a good, old-school traditional text based RPG with decent musical background and great story telling through texts and art. The base mechanism are good and intuitive. The story telling is amazingly great. It’s what made the huge difference for me. The stories and descriptions behind not only the main quests and places but also for various events, items, skills and character traits are immensely well written and create immersion. I’m happy with it.

A surprisingly fun, minimalistic RPG. Grim Tides offers an extensive choice of spells and skills to learn, areas to explore, and quests to complete – all packed in to a “pint-sized,” turn-based fantasy game. I highly recommend it for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of free space, but wants a deep RPG they can dive into.

The game is great. The biggest problem I have is that the ads ought to respect the sound settings of the game. Be sure to mute your phone entirely if you want to play in public. Also some ads are ridiculously long. Like minutes before I can get an X to depart. All that while blasting noise.

Turn based dungeon crawler, simple yet fun with a pretty in depth lore. Only problem is that it’s rather difficult to defeat enemies early on with melee builds. Dungeon rewards suggest that it’s designed that way, although if that’s the case then spells are overpowered early on for the price since from my experience you can easily beat fights without running out of spell casts.

Not for me. I’m a big player of tabletop, rpgs, and old school adventures, but I’ve struggled to get going in this one. The game itself is great in look and story, but as someone who prefers melee classes, there doesn’t seem much support for them in the early game. I was stuck in a loop of being almost dead by the first one or two encounters, limping back, spending all my gold on a potion and supplies, then repeating the process without being able to obtain extra for upgrades.

  • You can not only reduce, but also customize the difficulty to your heart’s desire. No need to give up so easily

More nuanced and challenging than its sister game, Grim Quest. I love a good dungeon crawl, the banner ads are unobtrusive (or I’m just used to them), and the video ad can be skipped as long as you are willing to figure the gold in game. The backstory in this game is amazingly detailed, and I look forward to the story unfolding.

Probably the best little android, turn based RPG game here. Played for more than 50 hours. Ads are optional if you want an extra 85 gold after doing a level, so you could avoid them or grab the gold to buy more stuff. Variety of different monsters to kill with melee or spells. Not rushed with 4 save slots to pause after each level. Create a character, choose attributes to enhance your play style. Explore an island(grid) and kill 3 monsters per battle.

It’s the best game I’ve ever played on the phone it’s challenging and the story is really good the story of both Grim tides the original Grimm are worthy of being a storybook if handwritten out would be a great read I really enjoy how there’s something to read every time you go into a dungeon to give your mind an idea of what you’re about to experience I highly recommend this to my friends and family
